Most of us do not know that in addition to the respiratory, circulatory, digestive, lymphatic, immune, nervous, motor and urinary systems, we also have an endocannabinoid system that is involved in many important physiological processes and consists of enzymes and cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2.

It is a perfect system that takes part in most of the physiological processes in our body, regulating them and controlling their course, and its basic function is to maintain homeostasis, or internal balance. This system was discovered relatively recently, in 1988, by Raphael Mechoulam, an Israeli scientist.

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is involved in modulating various cardiovascular and immunological processes, metabolism, and cognitive functions, such as those related to emotion, learning, and memory. This system also regulates hunger and satiety, as well as sleep. It affects motor activity, reproductive functions, and body temperature.

The ECS is usually stimulated by endocannabinoids such as anandamide or 2-AG, which are naturally produced by our bodies. However, as numerous studies have shown, most of us are deficient in endocannabinoids. This is where CBD comes in, a phytocannabinoid found in hemp plants, which, due to its structure, is considered to be the equivalent of the endocannabinoids produced by our bodies. CBD taken externally affects the proper functioning of the ECS by binding to its receptors, also found in the skin, causing many beneficial therapeutic effects.

Due to its regenerative and antibacterial effects, CBD is used in dermatological therapies and brings visible results in the form of improved skin condition.
